Court & Legal Support Reports
At MyMove Counselling, we prepare detailed therapeutic reports for clients involved in legal, family-law, or personal-injury proceedings.
Each report provides a structured, factual account of the client’s presenting symptoms, therapeutic engagement, and observed progress — giving solicitors and courts a clear, professional insight into the client’s mental-health presentation and response to therapy.
Our reports are written in formal, objective language similar in structure to a psychological report but within the ethical and professional scope of psychotherapy. They are not diagnostic documents but offer a credible, evidence-based record of therapeutic presentation, participation and momentum.
Report Structure
Client Background & Referral Context
Brief summary of referral reason, presenting issues, and relevant personal or situational factors.
Presenting Symptoms and Clinical Observations
Therapeutic Process
Detailing the 10-session structured programme, identifying focus areas (e.g. trauma recovery, emotional regulation, addiction recovery, relational adjustment).
Objective description of the client’s emotional, cognitive, and behavioural presentation at intake (e.g., anxiety, intrusive memories, avoidance, emotional numbing, sleep disturbance, social withdrawal).
These are described as observations rather than diagnoses.
Engagement & Progress
Summary of the client's attendance, participation, and observed change over time — including emotional insight, coping ability, interpersonal functioning, and overall adjustment.
Summary & Professional Opinion
Clear closing section summarising progress made, residual challenges, and any recommendation for ongoing therapeutic work.
Professional Framework
Reports are produced following a ten-session online or face-to-face programme (€60 per session) with a qualified psychotherapist.
Upon completion, Dr James Kinane reviews all clinical notes and prepares the final written report (€1,200), issued within ten working days of the final session.
Professional Oversight
Dr James Kinane is a Psychotherapist and Senior Lecturer at the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences (ICHAS). He holds a Doctorate in Philosophy, a Master’s degree in Supervision and Applied Practice, and multiple postgraduate qualifications in psychotherapy.
A member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and several other professional organisations, Dr Kinane has over thirty years’ experience in mental health and addiction practice. Through his work on the academic programme board at ICHAS, he contributes to the development of postgraduate and undergraduate training in psychotherapy, supervision, and addiction studies.
Therefore he uniquely brings both academic rigour and clinical depth to every report prepared by him.
