Gate Recovery Online
Private, structured addiction support — from home.
If your drinking, drug use, or gambling is starting to cost you, your self-respect, your relationships and your ability to see a reasonable future then here is a safe place to begin.
Gate Recovery Online is a 12-week Zoom addiction-recovery programme that helps you understand what’s driving your addiction behaviour, helps you to steady your life and build control. A programme that does not involve stepping away from work, from parenting, or from day-to-day responsibilities.

Is this Familiar?
-
On the outside, you function. On the inside, you’re scared.
-
You have heavy responsibilities - Home, Family, Children & Work.
-
You need a help that protects your dignity and your privacy.
-
Residential treatment isn’t possible or what you want.
-
At home, things are strained. Trust has taken hits. People are pulling away.
-
You hold shame and you want help that’s real, respectful, and discreet.
What's Different about Gate?
“ The question is not Why the addiction? but Why the pain? ’”
Gabor Maté - In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts
Addiction isn’t just “bad habits”. It becomes a way to cope, to numb stress, sadness, pressure, loneliness, anger, grief, or old pain that never had a chance to heal.
Gate Recovery Online is an evidence-based recovery programme helps you find and understand the "Why" and from that knowledge build inner control - so you don’t have to rely on a substance or behaviour to cope.

Step 1
Start the Conversation
Speak with our expert & experienced counsellor who works with and understands Alcohol, Drugs or Gambling addiction (About-Us). Its a free no-cost call - all we ask is that a family member or a core friend is part of that call.
Step 2
Complete a Private Assessment
On the call, we’ll do a private, confidential assessment to get clarity. It helps us understand the "Why" of your addiction. What’s driving the cycle, what’s keeping it going, and how we tune the programme to your needs.
Step 3
Begin the 12 Week Programme
Start your 12-week confidential programme with an experienced addiction counsellor, meeting privately by Zoom, guided by the assessment and focused on practical support for real-world triggers.
Gate Recovery Online - Programme
12-week fully online recovery programme
Each week combines private one-to-one therapy with practical recovery-focused sessions, all delivered securely by Zoom.
Gate Recovery gives you a way to get help without torching your working life. The outpatient structure means you keep your career, privacy and reputation and keep living with your family. The programme gets you out of survival mode and back into deliberate living, at work and at home.
Gate helps you return to your relationships. Not just physically but emotionally. It reduces the double life and the quiet damage addictive behaviour causes - the distance with your partner, the missed moments with your kids, the feeling that you’re a stranger in your own home.
Gate aims to rebuild trust through steadier realities.
The programme facilitates a transformation in mindset from “recovery” as simply being clean, sober, or not gambling to something far bigger. Gate aims to stop the behaviours, but also start building a life you actually want to live. Positive life change, calmness of mind, and deep self-knowledge. The programme is structured to move beyond merely avoiding chaos to finally moving toward a fully-formed, grounded life.

Family Involvement (3 Sessions)
Addiction affects everyone — recovery does too.
Family involvement is offered in 3 sessions within the programme. These are calm, guided conversations that help you and your family:
-
name what addiction has done (without blame or chaos)
-
rebuild trust in realistic steps
-
understand boundaries and support
-
plan for recovery in everyday life
Confidentiality and Discretion
Support you can do privately, on your terms.
Some people want help without having to explain it to others. That’s completely understandable.
-
All sessions are delivered via Zoom from your own space.
-
Strict confidentiality and anonymity rules apply.
-
We take safety seriously—for you and for others.
We don’t do pressure or pestering. You reach out when you’re ready. When that occurs make that first call to us. We strongly recommend that you have your core supporter with you on that call — a family member or close friend who knows what’s happening and can support your recovery from day one. That core support often makes recovery steadier and more sustainable.
Is Gate Online for You
-
You’re managing life on the surface, but you know the addiction is quietly taking ground.
-
You’ve tried “stopping” before — and the real problem wasn’t the stopping, it was the pain you were escaping from.
-
You need support that fits around your life—and stays private.
-
Home has become tense — you’re tired of apologies, arguments, and broken promises. You want a plan that rebuilds your steadiness and their trust.
-
You can’t disappear for weeks. You need recovery that happens in real life, in real time, while you keep showing up.

-

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Gate in-clinic and Gate Online?
Gate in-clinic is where you attend sessions in person in Limerick, and take part in group support sessions.
Gate Online (Zoom) means you get the same structured programme and private counselling, but you attend via secure Zoom sessions.
If you choose Zoom, you can still join the in-person group support in Limerick if you’re open to travel.
How does the programme work each week?
You get regular support each week. You have private sessions with your addiction counsellor. You also take part in practical recovery support (group support or online support).
Do I need to be sober / clean before joining?
No our Programme is based on both an abstinence based model and a harm reduction approach.
Can I attend AA / NA / GA / CA while participating on the Gate Recovery Programme?
Every form of support is a help. The Gate Recovery Programme operates independent or alongside independent meet-ups.
What if I’ve tried addiction recovery before and relapsed?
The Gate Recovery Programme offers dedicated support for individuals who have relapsed. Clients who have completed a residential rehab programme elsewhere can transition directly into our Continuum of Care Support for ongoing recovery.
Does it follow the AA 12-step approach, or is it different?
The Gate Recovery Programme differs from the 12-step approach by integrating at its core mental health. Effectively finding the underlying reasons for addictive behaviours, that includes trauma healing and past life exploration.
Will my participation be confidential?
Our programme maintains strict confidentiality for the individual and also offers strict confidentiality to the family unit who are invited to participate within part of the programe.
What kind of support is available for my family?
A family support programme for those affected by addiction is available - "The Liberty Programme". It features group sessions once per week in Limerick at 8pm on Friday.
Should I wait until my loved one is “in recovery” before I seek support for myself?
No. Waiting usually means you carry the strain for longer.
Liberty can help you cope and stabilise now, while you decide what you will and won’t live with
Do you talk to the family too, or only the person with the addiction?
Gate Recovery is focused on the person with the addiction, however there are three sessions when a family member are the core part.
With the three family sessions, we build the hope in the future but describe the reality of what life and lives were like during addiction.
Why do you recommend a core supporter at the start?
A core supporter helps keep things honest and steady. It also gives the family member clear guidance on what helps and what makes things worse. We see that people with a core supporter at the start are more likely to finish well.
What if I don’t want a core supporter on the assessment call?
You can do the assessment on your own, but it is not the preferred option. A core supporter is strongly recommended because it’s a practical sign you’re ready to take this seriously. If you choose an assessment without a core supporter, there is a €60 assessment fee.
Is Gate Recovery a rehab centre?
Gate Recovery is a non-residential treatment programme. You do not stay overnight. You stay at home. It is built for people who need support but still have work, family, and daily life. See our blog on further differences to residential centres.
Is this addiction counselling or a drug treatment centre?
It is addiction counselling inside a structured 12-week programme. We work with alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and gambling addiction. It is outpatient treatment, not a residential rehab stay.
What if my partner refuses to call you?
You cant force recovery. But you can get support for yourself during addiction.
Consider our Liberty Programme - which helps families through group meetings on how to manage yourself and loved ones when addiction is ongoing.
Can I do the programme fully online?
Yes. You can do your private sessions online from anywhere in the country. Online clients as an option join the group support in Limerick on Fridays at 7pm if they are willing to travel while in the online programme.
Do I need a referral letter from my GP or a doctor?
No. A referral letter is not required. Just contact us directly.
What happens during my addiction assessment?
The addiction assessment happens during our first call when you reach out and contact us ie before the programme starts. We ask about your alcohol, drugs, or gambling use. We also ask about your stress, mental health, relationships, work, and daily routine. Sometimes the assessment shows you may need a medical detox first. If so, we will talk you through the safest next step.
What equipment do I need for Zoom sessions?
You need a smartphone or tablet or laptop or desktop. Whatever the device it needs a camera and microphone. You also need a stable internet connection.
For privacy, we strongly recommend headphones. If privacy at home is difficult, some clients join from their car using a strong mobile data signal or nearby Wi-Fi (parked safely, not driving).
What if my partner is the one pushing for this and I’m not sure?
Gate works best when you want change. If you are only doing this to keep peace, it usually won’t last.
You don’t need perfect confidence, but you do need a real decision. “I’m done with the chaos. I want a proper life.”
If you’re not there yet, that’s honest. We can still speak with you privately, help you see what’s really happening, and what it will cost if nothing changes. But we can’t do the hard work for you. The effort has to come from you.
Do you offer payment plans for Gate Online?
Yes. We can discuss a payment plan after the assessment.
