The Liberty Programme

For Families Affected by Addiction

The Liberty Programme

Supporting someone in addiction or recovery? You are not alone.
The Liberty Programme offers support, education, and growth for family members and concerned persons impacted by addiction —no matter where their loved one is in the process.

‘Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth’ (George Washington)

Whether your loved one is actively in addiction, just beginning recovery, or has completed a program, this therapist-led programme helps you reclaim your life through psycho-education, peer support, and self-discovery in group and if required in one-to-one settings.

If you’re affected by addiction in your family—whether or not your loved one is in treatment—support is available.

The Liberty Programme is offered both online and in person at our Limerick centre.

The Liberty Programme : For loved ones  affected by addiction

Why Choose the Liberty Programme?

✔ You're Not Alone – A 2020 survey by Merchants Quay Ireland found that nearly 2 in 3 people in Ireland are affected by addiction—either their own or that of a family member or close friend. The Liberty Programme is here to support you regardless of your loved one’s current stage of recovery..

✔ A Therapist-Led Group with Your Voice at the Centre – Led by experienced therapists in addiction and family dynamics, the on-line Zoom programme places your needs at its center.

✔ Your Group is Your Team – Over the course of the programme, your therapist leads a a group selected topic in Week 1, then week 2 is an open forum again led by the therapist, and this alternating format continues throughout, allowing space for shared experiences whether your family member is in active addiction, recovering, or abstinent.

✔ Structure with Flexibility – With alternating themed and open sessions, this 24-week programme provides clarity and structure while adapting to what’s relevant for the group week to week.

✔ Freedom Through Boundaries – You will be supported to live your own life whilst being encouraged to set and maintain healthy boundaries by being relieved of the burden of other people’s problems.
